Hi folks,

Hi folks,

Long time since we posted here. A repair customer brought us this Airline style National with a snapped headstock.

We can repair most headstock breaks but this one is not going to happen. We need a new neck and we don't really do that kind of work here. Would anyone be able to make an exact replica? There's no truss rod in the original but that's not a requirement for the new one.

We'd be able to furnish the broken original for measurement purposes. We'd like for it to be as close to the original as possible - re-using the National logo and replicating the white/black pickguard material as headstock overlay either re-using or replicating the fretboard & inlays, etc.

We can do the finish work here but would understand if the builder preferred to do the entire thing. We've considered working from a stock "paddle head" neck like Allparts sells but this is a shorter scale length and with the inlay work, we just think it would be overall easier for someone with CNC capabilities to make an entirely new one.

Please get in touch if you're interested. We'll need to talk over proposals with the owner but would like to move forward soon.

Thanks!!

Hi all,

A client is looking for a pickup ring to fit a humbucker and a single coil like in the photo below. This one was a one-off made by Ibanez and he wants us to convert a similar guitar with only neck & bridge humbuckers to one like this. Wiring scheme and whether or not one ought to do this are not the issues at this point. But the sticking point is really the bezel/ring. If we can get one, we can make this happen for him.

So any ideas if there's a source for either a three coil size pickup ring or if there's someone who can custom make one? Cost appears to be no object and ultimately we can make one out of heavy black pickguard material but it would be nice to have a real ring.

Thanks for any thoughts!

Hi there!

I'm currently building a tricone inside an electric guitare with a Firebird shape for a customer. Does anyone have a tricone here and could measure the difference of string height when tuning up to pitch on a average string gauge? I'd like to estimate if I have to take that into account that change in bridge height in my design. Unfortunatly, I only have a single cone biscuit bridge here, and I doubt results would be relevant...

The input jack he chose from www.StewMac.com was a "Strat-style" and therefore I had to smooth over the edges of the cavity that he had over-zealously attempted to route for the jack. Thus why I had to create a custom pick guard to fill the gap from the excessively routed hole. I designed the pick guard from the De Armond logo(as seen on the headstock).
Looking for comments on my new Custom Martintag:fretsnet.ning.com,2009-01-22:2177249:Topic:88542009-01-22T22:44:57.124ZVon Luhmannhttp://fretsnet.ning.com/profile/PickPunch
Hello everyone I hope that you are all well. I just purchased a new guitar two years ago and I really wanted to get opinions on this guitar. I really wanted to get an older guitar but this one sounded and played so well that I could not put it back on the rack. Anyway I bought it at Guiter Center (I know) but anyway I got it....Here is what I got and I have a few pictures of it also attached.
Of particular interest to me is the back two piece:

I really liked the back on it and was curious if this "bowed" pattern in the rosewood is ever going to be a problem...i thought it was beautiful for this thing...

Anyway I paid I think 1100 for it or something like that...

I want to keep one martin for a long time and have second guessed that maybe I should sell it and get an older more collectible model....

What do I say when someone asks me what kind of Martin this thing is besides a custom?

I really love playing it and that i guess should be enough reason to just keep it but I hate telling people that I have a custom that is basically a beefed up....etc.....

Thanks everyone I really enjoy this website there is almost too much information here.

Sincerely,
