Has anyone here had any success removing a headstock adjustment Fender style truss rod without removing the fingerboard? I've seen one online article where a section of the neck heel was removed to get at the anchor and the rod pulled out. The new rod and anchor was re-installed and the heel patched (all invisible when assembled).

This seems on the face of it to be a simple solution but not having tried it, I wonder how easy it would be to reinstall the replacement…

Hi,

I'm back with a question, this time about the truss rod position.

It's for a set neck Les Paul style guitar. I was wondering how much the adjustment nut has to be back in the channel. Also, does anybody know where to get the right tool to counterbore the area of the adjustment nut, since the nut is slightly wider than the channel?…

curved truss rod routing?tag:fretsnet.ning.com,2014-01-12:2177249:Topic:1255872014-01-12T05:57:20.376ZMicha Schellhaashttp://fretsnet.ning.com/profile/MichaSchellhaas

I'm trying to decide how to route for the truss rod on a strat neck.

This is my first complete from scratch build and I am not sure what to do. What's common practice, routing a truss rod channel straight or curved?

Thanks in advance for your replies, I appreciate the help I get here a lot!

Hi all, We are looking at a late model Fender Strat. (truss rod adjustment at head end) In the process of adjusting the truss rod, the tip of the allen wrench broke off in the adjusting nut, which as we all know is sunk about 1/4 down inside the neck. The access hole is 3/16 dia. so needless to say it is a challenge to see the little bugger, let alone finding a way to extract it. (none of the broken bit is sticking out, cannot grab it) and it seems to be wedged into the nut.

What i am thinking is to make a piloted counterbore (I am a retired machinist) and cut out the walnut plug that encircles the access hole, which will give me some room to hopefully "grab" onto the nut and back it out. Have any of you been here before? or Any other ideas or risks with my plan? I do not want to remove any part of the fretboard.

Much thanks for any and all ideas. suggestions. and comments.
the impossible neck resettag:fretsnet.ning.com,2009-05-07:2177249:Topic:134042009-05-07T05:51:36.568Zfred huanghttp://fretsnet.ning.com/profile/fredhuang

Will this technique work if the truss rod extends to the soundhole?
Thanks,
Fred I just bought a Martin Guitar and I have no idea what size Allen key I need to adjust the Truss Rodtag:fretsnet.ning.com,2009-02-08:2177249:Topic:96642009-02-08T08:58:58.985ZChrishttp://fretsnet.ning.com/profile/Chris10
I recently bought a Martin D-15, should be a 2008 series. I have no idea what size allen key I need to adjust the truss rod, plus it's way in there. I've never seen one so deep before. Probably because this is my first real nice acoustic. Any help would be much appreciated. THANKS!!
