I recently had this one handed to me. Belongs to a buddy who thought breaking it once was not enough so he did it twice. 1990 Guild D-25NT.  I am on the fence as to the way to repair this one in that I could just repair the completely useless damaged portion or just replace the entire headstock?

I would replace the damaged wood.

I've done Frank's Back Strap Overaly several times with 100% success.  I see the guitars for restrings on a regular basis and they are rockin right along years later.
