    Hi Mike.

    Re: the Gibson truss rod.  Heating a FB to re-flow the glue to straighten the neck is NEVER a good idea.  History shows (especially with 'modern glues') that it's a temp fix at best. It's an obsolete and ineffective repair according to current industry standards.

    BTW: I see this A LOT on new Gibsons, especially the ones from the Memphis Shop.

    Personally, I think the price vs. quality factor with new Gibsons are abysmal. To put it succinctly, they're products are overpriced crap. We can thank the megalomaniac Henry J. for that.

    Either pull the FB and replace the truss rod (only if it's not operational) and do what you need to reshape either the FB (top OR bottom) and/or the neck's gluing surface.

    My honest advice: cut your losses & sell the Gibson. Buy an Epiphone ES-339 Pro (not the Ultra) and upgrade the electronics & hardware. You'll love it :)
