Is the rotary planer you referred to as the "chucker" happen to be the Craftsman carbide tipped rotary planer for radial arm saws ( model # 9 29513) ? I have had one for many years and never had a problem with it. I did modify the cutter to make it safer, more precise, and repeatable. Are you familiar with this tool?

You make an excellent point of the disparities in tension when alternate tuning is used. I also figure that the first four strings are the ones that get pulled the most, and perhaps it can even out the tension with the bass E,A.

I'll check in at Gryphon to see if I can get the guitar tweeked (re-set-up)while I shop, and or do lunch in your neighborhood. The B string is off a bit off.
