FRETS.NET

I was heating the fretboard on on a ''71 ES335 with a badly damaged neck so I could hopefully remove and reuse the original fretboard. To my surprise the block markers started to melt. I thought they were mother of pearl but apparently not, I guess Gibson used plastic not MOP. Now I have 2 markers that need replacing. I'd like to re-use the original fretboard and this means replacing the 2 damaged block markers. Does anyone know what the orignal is and where to get it?

Go to Custom Inlay (Google it) - Brian Englands Custom Inlay has everything and more regards inlay material. Look up inlay material in the big index and toggle through about 10 pages to get a match (they have pearl, abalone and plastic). V. nice people as well.

If you need to age the new material give it a couple of shots of nitro witha smidge of vintage amber stain after you have installed it. Rusty.
