i have it installed while messing with it i tore the foil off the pick up a little and now it is giving me a headache has anyone experienced this happen to them were you able to fix the p/u i can get signal when its out but while its is installed nothing

This is generally a fatal ending to the pickup as the foil is the electrical shield capsule for the active element - I have had limited success with wrapping the damaged pickup in cooking Alfoil (aluminium foil) around the damaged area but it also hasn't worked at times. New replacement units are available so you don't have to buy the whole system. They normally hum loudly when there is a break in the insulation or when the leads are reversed in the hook up. Rusty.
