well awesome Hesh the Saddle has a 10 /32 slot it sits in so I did cut it deep for the 2/3 depth and it is slightly high by about 3/64th my string action is on the Money here Boys I really got it nice this time (neck nut saddle )= geometry understood ..
I have seen the bridge on some older guitars roll forward however I feel I have taken into account this issue .
as it is I am coming out of repairs from the past 4 years I had serviced 11 stores including GC of San Francisco and GC Modesto and a bunch of Ma and Pa stores through out the Central Valley in CA and then last January I was called to help out my Family ,so I put down the repair Business closed so to speak and if I had to do that again I would MY Family First .
so Ive experienced neck reset, bridge re-glue, l.e.d. lights under the finger board ,lots of things to keep in mind , as of now I keep on to them and have local Guitar teachers over to find the Buzz = wheres waldo ,which on this one, no one has complained ,as a matter of fact my favorite guy dropped by I left him alone with the guitar he played for over an Hr so it must have been good cause he didn't run out of the House or anything .
I started building after the Luthier school I attended which was supposed to be one of North Americas Top schools came home sold my Hot Rod bought some floor model tools and have gone on to do quite a bit for my time although through forms like this one I kinda get my quality control as I get advice from all of you thanks Have a wonderful day all of you .
Mark sanding sealer and Nitro Cellous ...
Yea I am Patriotic I love my Country like William Wallace says in brave heart FREEDOM !!!
I guess you could say I am half Scottish also .
But My patriotic view is a strong one and am hoping to attract the same kinda folk with the Made in the USA stamped that's the current Plan
OK Frank, if you want to stamp "Made in the USA" on the bridge that is indeed your prerogative. Just a couple of suggestions, if you want it to be visible on the outside of the guitar, maybe the headstock would be the place for it, rather than the bridge?
Secondly, you can get metal stamps made up, which can be used in an arbor press, and these stamps would have a beautifully calligraphed "Made in the USA" which would look 100 times better than individually stamped letters.
You are indeed a lucky man to have all that walnut at your disposal, but maybe you would be better keeping it for the backs and sides (and the necks too, walnut makes a great neck) but if you are looking to sell your instruments, maybe spruce for the tops would be a more commercially attractive option ?
I have some spruce I brought in a Alaskan Spruce 20 foot long by 60 inch Diameter into port of Stockton wheeled it out to the Mill and quartered the log for tops ,1 more year it will be ready I am just a Time Bomb ready to explode Guitars everywhere Cant wait . Great suggestion with custom stamps way cool so far I may have spent 5 k on saw blades Milling Logs not much for what it cost to buy on E bay . hey just an Opinion but walnut sounds better than Spruce just a thought
the head stock is a god place yes I just thought the Burl was nicer thanks Murray Glad folks like it have a wonderful day .I am gonna make a label for the inside now after the suggestion
of printing some I remember a friend I have who prints stuff so yea thank you guys
FRANK,
That is one lovely instrument. You did a superb job.
As for the design & appointments: It's your guitar it SHOULD reflect YOUR preferences. I'm sure it will be a "quick sale".
I'm not a builder so I'm not lusting over your stockpile of wood (maybe a little as a casual maker of objet d'art) but I must say it's some unique & gorgeous stock!!!
Way to go my friend.
Kindest regards,
Paul
