I'm wondering if there is a tried and true method for saving cool old paper labels like this one. I was thinking about making a small watered down batch of hot hide glue and carefully brushing it on. As always, any advice or idea's are greatly appreciated.

Acid in the paper and adhesive are the culprits.  Hide glue will make matters worse.  Use this: http://www.krylon.com/products/make_it_acidfree/  2-3 applications after masking the back around the label.  Make a dilute solution of a pH neutral PVA glue http://www.lineco.com/cart.php?m=product_list&c=1118&s=999 and apply (light dabbing) several thin coats with a foam paintbrush to stabilize the remaining paper.

With links and all...

Thanks Mark.
