Hey guys!

I've got a '97 Pbass with stripped truss rod threads.  (I'm sure its the rod and not the nut - I've tried several, along with spacing washers, no luck.)  I'm most likely going to buy the stew mac truss rod saver thingy, but I had a few questions.

1.  Have you all had good luck with it?

2.  The bass adjusts at the heel, not the headstock.  It looks like there is metal washer or anchor in there that I can't remove.  How do you get it out?  Will the cutter remove it?  I think it's designed to cut through wood.

Thanks in advance for your help.

edit: Frank, did you invent the Stew Mac tool?  I just checked out the relevant frets.com page...

One....The washer would have to come out....2....The tool may go on and cut new thread, but the nut would bottom out before you reached them, most likely...It may require invasive heel surgery...But it can be done...I have used a Gibson style nut and a long, thin socket to adjust it..
