I seem to be having a lot off problems with e mails lately.Re bows.No I am an amateur violin player who has recently taken up the guitar, and it is very rewarding.I can feel the transfer of "technique"happening now I have worked out the basic details like hand reach and how to get my nails the right shape.I have small hands for a guitar so I can manage quite well with a capo.--Do you compose music with your "invention"? Is there a system of notation? If you compose have you ever seen the books by BARLOW AND MORGENSTERN which give a very concise "definition " of what makes a tune.I used that idea once and if you think of a novelist with a blank sheet of paper to start a novel-well the thing I did was to reverse that process.I used a small computer to generate random numbers .Then played the notes corresponding to those numbers on a piano.Instantly rejected anything unpromising and wrote down possible tunes or fragments(good word).I was surprised at how quickly the process gained momentum.Compare to a blank sheet of paper .It`s comparatively easy and quick to register a new melody even if you have never heard it before. My best one was a series of notes that followed the oboe tune in the slow movement of Brahms violin concerto. All notes were correct till 2-3 notes right at the end.Quite remarkable.Ever tried that?

Hello Penql About the random numbers thing. As I remember I had the number generator making a basic tone for each number up to 8 notes then stopping. Then I would try any that had quite good possibilities on an electric piano.I purposely avoided leaving the "machine "to take control .and never tried to"automate" anything. You may be happy to know that I never do "fingers in the air" inverted commas while I`m talking.(Well sometimes ironically). So you may have fallen into the trap(DrMoriarty). But even a week of regular attempts shows you how to pare it down to a more efficient process. When you think of the way Bach produced music It`s amazing that nobody seems to have worked out the basic routine he used.Anyone with half an ear can recognise the building blocks elements in his music and they occur quite frequently. But they also seem to be the most addictive part of his "sound"(stop with the inverted commas)(and the brackets). Can you tell I like the novels of Vladimir Nabokov. He often steps out of the story to comment on his own writing style? All this typing is fairly new to me so I`m like a daft kid in the playground sometimes. So professor Vat is zis DAX of vich you speak?digital analogue crossover?Ishall stop with a good question. How do you react to the music of Philip Glass.(marks out of ten)10/10--10/10--or --10/10?---...
