I use a belt sander glue it on and finalize it with a glass block and sand paper checking with a raidused gauge check out Grizzly and the sanders and attachments there is an attachment for a belt sander that is supposed to give best results
I have a swing arm that I attach the finger board wit vacuum than set it up to my sander and swing until I have it done. Works great.

Len I went to my local window installer tole him make me a block 11inches long 3 inches wide and 1/4 inch thick I use supper 77 3-m spray and glue on sand paper on both sides it works for sanding finger boards and frets Cheers PHB I also make my final shaping for nuts and begin to reduce my scratches in grit reduction so I have several blocks with different grits
