Limited budget and more crunched than you can see from the poor photo. On the inside there was a mess of glue, bondo maybe and propped up pieces of popsicle stick in epoxy. It had to be done from the outside. I scraped down to the wood, spread glue on both sides of a piece of mahogany veneer and then used masking tape and a bag of lead shot to clamp it in place. When it was dry I treated it like a drywall repair sanding and feathering out towards the edges of the patch. It worked much better than I expected and added strength to an area that was very flimsy.I'm not going to try to match the latex and shellac finish.
