I recently bought a classical guitar with a beautiful tone, but don't know any information about the maker or woods. The label inside the guitar was removed. It was purchased for about $3000, which was 20 years ago.

Does anybody recognize the maker of the guitar?

Until I get a little more information, I'm leaning toward saying that this is a guitar made by a developing luthier 20 years ago. The rosette is absolutely identical to the R22 rosette that LMII continues to sell (see the attached image). A factory would have their own distinctive rosettes prepared for them. Established luthiers generally make their own design of rosettes as part of their aesthetic signature. I've contacted David Schramm, who also sells this rosette, to ask him if he knows whether either a factory or a "name" is or has ever used that rosette and I'll update the post when I hear from him.

Cheers,
Bob

P.S The tuners are Schaller Hausers which are used almost exclusively by amateurs and developing professionals (and upper level cheapskate luthiers).

Hi Bob.. thank you very much for that detailed information!

Please let me know if you find out any additional information from Mr. Schramm..

Looks like a Yamaha and a good one if those are the orig. tuners......
Those probably aren't the original tuners. They're Schaller Hausers and the tuners from 20 years ago had an open topped bracket on them. The tuners on this guitar have the newer closed brackets which dates them to the last 6-7 years.
