HVLP Spray Gun VS. Conventional Siphon Feed? NEED INPUT PLEASE!!!

I'm considering buying a HVLP spray gun that will run off my 21 gal compressor for finishing. I've never used the HVLP system before, only your run of the mill normal siphon feed guns. I was hoping to get some feedback on whether any of you are using this HVLP system and what you think of it? I've heard good and bad stuff. The question is, should I convert to this system, as I need to buy a new gun? I'm looking at the Sata jet and minijet. Also, the Devilbiss SRi. I think I need at least a 1.4 needle, true? Any thoughts?

You can get good guns at any auto parts store( if the even sell this brand) i use the provalue and finish line products. also i would highly reccomend Dan Erilwines Book http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Books,_plans/Building_and_repair:_Finis...

It tells you all about it ( in my opnion).

I have that book. I'm just looking for you guys' recommendations. I've been spraying for a number of years now, and am looking for something different, that's all :)

I've got the Devilbiss SRi W(waterbase compatible). I use 0.8 and 1.0 needles. I do complete finish jobs using either PU or nitro. I'm satisfied with that gun ; in fact I could improve a lot of things, but not the gun : mostly my scheduleds, my spray booth, etc...

I use a Sharpe Finex FX1000 for nitro lacquer and it works fine. Street cost about a hundred bucks.

Ok guys, I've decided on the Sata Minijet 3000 B 1.4 SR. I've heard only really good stuff about it. I'm pretty excited to finally get a proper gun. I'll let you know how I like it!

Well, upon further research, I've elected not to buy the 3000 B, and instead go with the Minijet 4. This is because there's a 600cc cup that can be put on the minijet 4, but doesn't fit the 3000 B. So for anyone else out there that may be in the same boat as me, the 3000 B is stuck with the small .15L and .125L cups, unless you go with the RPS disposable cup system. But, that's quite expensive, and I can't justify all that waste going into the landfill. Our poorly organized city recycling center only recycles #1 and #2 plastic. And if I'm correct, the RPS cups are a #5. Regardless, I'm going with the 1.4 needle/nozzle size. Others have said to me, "why use a 1.4 in a minijet when you could just get a Sata Jet (the bigger one), as it defeat's the purpose of getting the MINIjet?" My answer to that is, "I'm saving about $200 by going with the smaller gun, and for me, it's more versatile for smaller jobs." If anyone out there has any ideas, info or suggestions before I make the leap and drop about $350 for this gun, PLEASE let me know. I'm aiming to purchase tomorrow, Jan 15th :) Thanks for all the help so far guys!!!
