Hello Ian, please feel free to contact me regards general luthiery - I don't have many opinions about instruments or their quality but I will comment on whether a particular instrument is worthwhile repairing and what technique I would use (with the exception of some proprietary processes which belong to my business). Good luck with luthiery. You are getting a running start at the same age I started back in the 60's. There is an abundance of information and knowledge on this site. I will look for your postings and give you input if I am able. You probably won't get rich with luthiery, but, who knows?

the only family instrument we have left of my great grandfather but its in austrialia with a cousin of mine but still at least we saved this beautiful kay kraft.
