I understand Pyramid's plain steel strings are silver coated as opposed to tin coated. True? Is that a significant improvement/difference?
Thanks , and continued amazing artistry and craftsmanship on your parts.

Plain strings are Tin coated??
I can't say one way or the other... but I've seen a lot of rusty strings on old guitars and I know that getting stuck by a new one burns like the devil. I've always thought they are coated with some light oil of some sort.
I am unfamiliar with Pyramid strings but I think plain steel strings are just that, plain steel. If they are coated, the packaging would tout that and you would likely pay more. Silver is corrosion resistant and probably worth trying if you have problems with acidic sweat. The Silver coating won't stop the underlying steel string losing it's ability to be brought to pitch and intonate correctly up and down it's length, it will wear out at the same rate as a plain steel string but it won't corrode as fast. I use Aquila strings on my vintage Washburn parlor guitar, the wound strings are Silver plate on Copper. Things would quickly get Green from Copper corrosion if they did not coat them with the Silver.
You can get Gold plating too, if your feeling a bit affluent.
