Hi all. I need to put some small sections of kerfed lining on a project and was wondering what methods you all have used to do this sort of repair. I was thinking my best option would be to use magnets to hold the lining in place while the glue dries. My concern is that I need good downward and inward pressure to get a good glue joint. I don't know what else could work in a situation where the sides and top are already connected.

Thanks for any input.

is it the top or back?the back can some times come off, the top can also its much more work though, pulling the neck that is the extream versions sanding out the kurffing in a radius dish again, a small section i could see using magnets and maby you can use a used tuner mounted to a small block using a caul /a #9 guitar string /and this tuner mounted to a block..slip the string through the sound hole pushing it out to the outside through small hole maby in the binding area where the repair needs to happen . pulling the string through slip it through the tuner mounted to the small block tighten as you go till the string is tight holding your kurffing in place ,this gives extraordinary power and the tension is strong enough to break things so easy dose it. i like electric strings for this with a ball end and also using a wood washer to separate it from the kurffing and in between a small piece of wax paper so as to not to stick to the washer when its time to disassemble just a thought
Hi Paul and thank you for the response. It is missing from the top of the guitar. I went with the magnets and wax paper with good results.
You can try a trick Frank Ford suggests for hard to reach patches ont top breaks : use hide glue and hold it with with your for 5 minutes. Don't kick the guitar around and it should be fine. I used that technique several times.
