The 1890s 0-28 that I am trying to copy has very small herringbone binding.  The binding is about 0.110 inches wide, and there are approximately 13 herringbones per inch.  The smallest that I have, has about 9 "bones" per inch.  Is the smaller binding available?  Does anyone have a source?  Would anyone actually notice if I used the larger stuff?  Thanks.

I would find an exact replica if possible. You might try people who make custom rosettes.

Gurian may have it or something close.

I finally found appropriate herringbone.  It came from TOUCHSTONE TONEWOODS  in the UK.  It is very high quality, beautifully packaged, and remarkably similar to that on the 1893 Martin 0-28.  With the current exchange rate, it wasn't all that expensive.
