Hi all. I have finally decided to buy an electric guitar. I fell for the look, sound and stylings of the Fender Telecaster, but I have always played guitars with 1 3/4 nut width. Are all Tellys made with the 1 5/8 nut? I am in no position to place a custom order, just wondering is anyone out there knows if a slightly wider neck is available on any particular telecaster.

Thank you_

Matt

Hi Matt, when I started playing and,  later on, repairs yonks ago I thought about guitars in terms of dimensions and measurements and pickup values and resistances and such - these things were important because I was always hearing players talk about them.....these days I don't pay much attention to this stuff including different widths and depth of necks because I play a lot of different instruments I guess and just sort of ease into the differences.

Some are a little more comfortable to play for sure,  and I have my fave neck profiles .....but, most of the slingers that I deal with don't seem to notice transitioning from wide to skinny, acoustic to electric etc - its just part of the gig.....sort of like getting into a car with a different sized steering wheel......but, that's only something I've noticed.. maybe you should play the different width and see if it matters?   Good luck Matt, tell us how you go, Rusty.
