Noob question.
Hi every one,
I'm trying to learn how to play the acoustic guitar for the first time. Every time I practice my finger is killing me. I did some research and found out it's because the action of the guitar is too high. So I need to lower the action, is this a job for first time DIYer? If it is where can I find information about it, if not how much does it cost to do it at the shop. I live close by Palo Alto so I can drop by Gryphon. Thank You for your help.

have a look at frets.com for all the information you'll ever need on setting up an acoustic guitar.
It CAN be done as a first time, but you'd need to be confident in your DIY skills.
Can you hang a picture straight and put up shelves? if not, don't try it, and get some one who can to do it ;o)
