Where does it come from?
turkey is where I believe it is from and the musician said it was called a saz in Turkish and bazzokiy in Greek
Paul did it have those pickups in from the gitgo or were they retrofitted later?
no it came with 2 humbuckers straight from turkey with 4 toggles and 3 knobs I tested the switches #1 was a phase switch for the neck #2 was coil cut for bucker#1, #3was a phase for the bridge bucker and switch #4 was a coil cut 1 volume 2 tones the only retro fit was putting strap buttons and I had the pleasure of installing them the young gentlemen was born in Iraq lived in London and here in CA sac state student studying electrical engineering and plays this cause he enjoys it also happens to be an Iraqi Christian which I thought was interesting as well hope you enjoy Happy Easter

how is it tuned?
good question maby 4ths or maby even 5ths i don't know but what I do know is he plays the bass string like a drone and sometimes the smaller one as a drone another very cool thing was they had used violin fine tuners and cello pegs to tune it
