FRETS.NET

I bought a 1908 Gibson A4 years ago from a friend who got it with a shattered neck so he could get the Handel tuners

I recently purchased a Gibson A style neck in good shhape with the fretboard still attached and the dovetail is still in the neck block

I am Looking for the best way to remove the neck from the neck block

Thanks

I think I'd use a saw and cut down along the end of the dovetail toward the fingerboard.  While it might be tempting to try to simply break everything apart from there, it would probably pay to steam things apart as well.

So. Remove the bulk before steaming? Could I insert the needle of the steamer in the dovetail?

There is is small space there already

Thanks

Permission granted.  Go for it!

Hi Frank

Do you have any plans to build a steamer with a pressure cooker?

Thank you
