Repairing a damaged side on an old guitar (+ short introduction)

Hi guys,

I have this old Norwegian-made Leif Hansson parlor-style acoustic that I recently bought. Unfortunately it have some dammage to one of the sides, and I'm afraid I only have a few fragments of the original pieces left. The remaining parts was glued very badly together, and I was able to savalge one larger piece + a couple of smaller ones. Neither fit very well after cleanup and as you can see the area to repair is a bit tricky - at least for me. Short intro: Norwegian, part time bicycle framebuilder, soon to be museum director, works in the design industry now.

So any advice on how to tackle this, guys?

Br,

Hi Truls, I had an old Gibson parlour guitar with a similar problem, I must have removed over 20 pieces of a previous repair then decided to cut the whole previously repaired areas out and replaced with new Mahogany, patches. Some were 4" X1" in size. These were bent to suit the area of the side they were being inlaid into, and reinforced inside.

I have photos that tell the story, but for some reason I can't see photos on the forum.

Cheers Taff
