Just heard on the radio about my idol Doc Watson's passing at 89 years old. I met Doc 10 years ago in Tennessee at the Fall Homecoming and he was kind enough to play a couple of tunes on my fourth guitar, after which he signed the top, something I've been told he rarely did. He was a true gentleman who inspired so many players and fans with his talent. He will be sorely missed. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

Rest in Peace, Doc. All the best to his family.
I feel very fortunate to have seen Doc perform twice here in Minnesota...both were great shows at smaller venues. Such a legendary figure...
I told Doc backstage once about having to dryshave on a FtBragg parade field in December and the look on his face was priceless!!Greatest innovator for his envied style and composure on stage.
Sad news for sure.
Would that be the Museum of Applachia's fall Homecoming in Norris Tennessee? Thats five minutes from my House.
Thats the one. It's a great event but my favorite part by far was pickin' with John Hartford on the porch of the little restaurant across the interstate in the evenings after the festival closed. One night it was me and John and Larry Perkins and Leroy Troy. I was so out of my league but they let me play and even solo on a couple of tunes. Such fine and talented people. I miss those days a lot.
