Sanding a saddle with formaldehyde smell .

Hi everyone , I often wonder why some plastic saddles smell like formaldehyde when sanded . Searching the forum I see that micarta may contain formaldehyde , is this the case ? Is it dangerous ? Thanks Len

The amount of formaldehyde in a saddle should be minimal compared to the amount floating around in a high school biology lab.  I think there would be very little risk.
