Side Crack - My son sits on Death Row awaiting your advice

No need to get into the gory details, but my 93 Guild D50 was accidently banged and a 3" crack has opened up on the treble side. My son (an excellent bass player and very good guitarist) is now Dead Man Walking.  How can I fix or have this fixed and what's it going to set me back?

Don't use super glue.  Don't align with masking tape.

Bring it to a competent repair person, it isn't a big deal.

Take it to your local luthier and get it fixed - it shouldn't set you back all that much.  It's a small injury and can have no effect on the tone or longevity of the guitar.

As to the perp, give him a break, and reserve the wrath for the time when he backs your car over the neighbor's three-year-old. . .

he backed the car over the three year old last year....I let that slide, it was only a kid, not MY GUITAR.

thanks for the advice.

his sentence has been reduced to life without parole....I'm betting by end of day he'll get off on "time served"

Think of it as "personalized' now. You own a custom guitar!
