This IS the ultimate guitar-building book - originally published in 1980. Don Teeter wrote this volume to answer questions that luthiers asked after reading Volume I. Yes, it is technically-written.
I own the set of volumes; my husband built several guitars using these books.
The Acoustic Guitar, Volume II will again be available for sale for $19.95 in mid February 2012 at www.oupress.com. Volume I is available today.

Howdy Diane. Thanks very much for the info. I have a seller who says he has volume II, pub. 1980. Just wanted to make sure he is selling what he says he's selling.
Hello Lee- the cloth of volume II was first published in 1980 - the paperback didn't make its appearance until 1998.

Thanks, Diane.
You should try to post this on as many guitar forums as possible.
I will be ordering both volumes when Vol II becomes available.
Thank you Murray - a very good idea!
Hi Diane,
Thanks for the information. Has there been any consideration given to producing a volume with both editions in a single binder? I think a paperback volume with both books would be great for my shop. I have original copies of both books already but I would not want to leave laying around in my shop area.
Not yet - but I'll bring the idea to our Marketing Director's attention.
Meanwhile - I've already sent an email to ask if the price of volume I can be dropped...
We had loaned our copy of volume II to a friend; I got pretty frantic when it didn't get returned timely!
Thank you Diane.
I don't loan mine out anymore. The spine came off of the first volume and I long sense lost the dust cover so I use the dust cover from volume II to hold volume I together. Someday I suppose I will find someone that can repair it. I should also probably purchase paper back copies of the books and leave these in the book case.
