How to remove a back ?

I have some major brace work to do on an OM that I built 6 mo. ago. I've never taken a back off before & am concerned about a couple of things.  The Binding is Maple & I doubt that it will come off willingly. So, do I start with heat, or a router, or should I just expect to replace the back altogether ?

Hi Robert,

Off the top, no, I don't know anyone in our area. Real estate is a bit pricey for anything other than the hobbyist.

Are you interested in nylon or steel string?

If one can get there, Sergie de Jonge has the coolest place to spend 5 weeks and 4 grand (Canadian). He is a world-class luthier that accepts a handful of students a few times a year. Take a look at some of his guitars here: http://www.dejongeguitars.com. And here is the link to his shop/school: http://www.dejongelutherie.com/course.html.

Good Luck,
Gary
