I bought those violin knives more than 30 years ago from an importer of German violin maker suppllies, so I have no idea whether they're available still. Either way, I like the LMI blades better, so I'd replace them with theirs and make my own handles.

No particular reason except for just curiosity. I do lots of repairs and have never needed to change a decal and may need to in the future. Also, on the guitars I build I use a MOP inlay on the headstock and am looking for a cheaper alternative (I've sprayed it and it is "acceptable"). I originally tried making my own decals but the they seem to "get lost " when put on a dark veneer such as Rosewood.
