Source for truss rod supplies

I'm looking for a source for supplies to make my own truss rods. Of course, steel rod, etc Is available at any home depot, but I am looking for threaded sleeves (and reverse threaded sleeves) for making double action rods. Also wondering what the best matereal is for the conduit that the rod passes through.
