There are little teeth marks all around this f hole. It is just an old Kay, but still a shame. Since this will be a cross grain repair I know it won't be anywhere close to invisible, but if there are any suggestions, I am all ears.

wow how much can you sand out looks like you got a mouse in the house
I just bought this guitar on eBay. I couldn't resist the challenge. I was releived to see that it didn't come with a mouse, or any terds. It did come with 4 complete sets of tuning machines, a nice case and most importantly another piece to help hone my skills. Plus, when I am done I will have a great campfire guitar. I figure what I will do is cut away a semi circle, (perhaps more like a semi football shape). The I will put in a spruce patch, reshape the f hole and start my reaserch on the refinishing. I think it is time for me to get an airbrush.
I would write next to the hole" this is where a mouse had its home" and enjoy it!!

Ron I think that folks are making a faulty assumption that a mouse did the damage. The absence of turds suggests that the perp was the family gerbil. Gerbils are much more fastidious and wouldn't leave turds where they dine.

I agree with Ron Frazier- I think it would make a gr8 campfire guitar and a good conversation piece at the same time -- fix it up and see what it sounds like and play it from there

Heck, leave it as is. You could start a new trend: mousehole instead of F hole. Or even octopus hole. (it looks like an octopus to me) Shoot, Tacoma and Mcphearson got it going. This could be the next big thing!!

Good luck and have fun.
Thank you all. Maybe I will just leave it alone, this will probably help with the volume anyways. Have a great weekend everyone.

And you are so right, I didn't notice the likeness to an octopus, but now I see it.
I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot Yugoslavian!!...Just leave it posted and see who steals the design for thier signature...
New thought.....Bind the whole thing!!!
PP.SS.....that must have been a very meticuolous mouse to such an even job! I can see him stepping back every once in a while and admiring his work!!
