I have a Gibson BR6 lap steel that I need to replace the buttons.  I did buy replacement buttons from stew mac

  any suggestions?

What's the problem?

One thing I do suggest is making a spacer block, just a notched piece of wood that covers the space on the shaft that can be seen. you can then heat up the shaft and slide on the button, bumping it against the stop so that it is in the rightplace and you don't accidentally push the shaft through the end of the button.

  There is no problem.. I have never done it before and was looking for advice how to do it..  I thought Frank had an article but couldn't find it
