Dropping pictures in the text of your post is fairly easy IF you know where the picture is on your PC. THAT's usually the hard part. I like to place the pictures I want to use on my desktop before I post so I can find them pretty easily.
You can start by typing in the text box for "replies" or place a picture first. Either way will work. Just use the second Icon from the left on the "Reply" box's tool bar. It's a small Icon that looks a bit like mountains in a picture. Using the context box that pops up, you can locate your picture by using the "Choose File" button. Once you have the picture selected, you can set the size and location of the picture within the post. You should probably have the picture on your local computer rather than trying to pull from an online source so that upload is clean. Once it's done, you can just press the "return" key to get a cursor to add more text. The system here will allow you to upload up to 3 pictures per post.
I like embedding picture like this much better than linking to them because the picture's existence on the forum isn't dependent upon it's continued existence on another web site. Linking to a picture location off site is the major reason that the Internet is littered with forum pages that have text with all the pictures missing. The pictures in the link may still be on the internet but they were moved for some reason which broke the link's path to their location.
If you should need more than three pictures, making another "replay" will give you another set of 3
If I'm talking down to you guys, I don't mean to. I use to work as a Computer Tech and I became aware of the fact that a lot of what we do with technology isn't as apparent to everyone as it seems. It was demonstrated to me clearly once by a retired volunteer in a hospital where I worked. She didn't know how to make a mouse move a cursor. Really, why would she know if no one showed her?
There is no tool bar on the "reply" window? The window I'm typing in right now has a tool bar directly above this sentence. It starts with a "link" button on the left and has 14 more icons which allow such thing as making text Bold or using Italic, scratch through or underlined text. It also allows for justification such as;
centered text
Right justified text
or Left justified text. There is a quote's button which looks like this;
There is no tool bar on the "reply" window?
and bullet and numbering options. The last is to designate html links embedded in the text you type.
Oh yeah, I left out the one we are talking about. The first is a "link" button , the second is the "image" button that I was talking about, and the third is a "Paste as Plain Text" button.
I'm using the updated version of Chrome as a browser so maybe it's something about the browser you are using.
BTW; the "upload files" button is separate from the "reply" window, being placed right below it on the page as I see it.
