Artec passive problems

I had an artec blend/tone set up going with a humbucker and piezo, both passively wired but of course the power going to the tone circuit. Suddenly failed. Got another wired same way, does not work at all. If I wire actively I get both to work but no volume or tone and blend pot is strange with no volume on the extremes and only blend in the middle. Is there a way to wire up such a thing without having to rely on an active circuit? Could I just have two seperate volumes and a master tone completely passively? Thanks
