iam in process on my 3rd build . paduk back and sides , cedar top. ive seen some kind of epoxy or something to seal the wood before finishing any comments, do i need it . last 2 guitars i hand rubbed with linseed oil and alchol mix several coats this worked great. paduck has more of a open pore than the maple guitars i previously made

I made 3 guitars out of pudak and will never do that again. It was vertical grain and the sides split so bad that I finly vineered them and like you said the pores ard worse than oak.
