Need advice about backstrip separation on Martin 16 series

Ok so in this pic you really can't see what's going on, but I'll give a little background and what my problem is. This Martin 16 series guitar was left in a hot car and all sorts of stuff happened. The neck cam loose, there's a crack from the bridge to the end, a couple loose braces, and the backstrip has little separations all up and down it. I have humidified it as much as possible, but there are little voids, or small cracks in the backstrip that will not close completely. I would just like to know what some of you guys would do in this situation. Any advice will help.

Thanks

Justin

Justin,my post is not going to help at all. I would give this guy his guitar back and not touch a single thing on it.

Guitars left in cars on hot days totally distort, fretboards come loose, bridges and bridgeplates come totally loose, then reglue themselves in different places, neck angles change to the point that a neck reset becomes redundant, bindings come off, endblocks sink right into the body, and into unfixable positions.... this is an instrument Repairpersons  nightmare that never  can be fixed.

And whatever you DO fix will just be one problem of 20 that need addressing, and another 5 that you have no idea about because you can't see them!.

Do you get the idea that I am am getting at?

I have had my share of these 'festival guitars' come through my shop over the years. I always tell the owner that I certainly can't fix it, and I have no clue anyone who can. Your guitar is now officially a wall hanger, no matter the price you paid.

I would send it on down the road.

Kerry,

I do understand what you are saying and I thought about it, but I believe I can get this guitar back to playing condition. This is a good customer of mine, and we spoke about this risks that may be associated with attempting to repair it. He understands that there is only so much I can do sometimes, but is willing to let me try. I don't think it took enough damage to not try and get it playing again. I'm really looking for some techniques that may help get this backstrip figured out. I think I'm going to drop CA in all the little cracks, and level/polish it all out.

Justin, The CA glue idea works fine in such cases. In response to Kerry's concerns I'd just recommend a close inspection of all the critical glue joints before you've completed the project.
