 Hi all

This is my first post on this forum. Not sure  how to connect with the previous post on Power Pins so forgive me for starting a new one.

In response to Allen Chance's offer to try a set of Power Pins ,Allen was kind enough to send me a set. When I received them I was surprised at how small they were and really were quite light.

To give an honest review, I tried them on  three different guitars. The first guitar I tried them on is an Alvarez AD60CK. This particular guitar is strung up as a high strung guitar. What I found was an increase in volume, resonance and sustain.

The second guitar I used is a mid 70's Fender F-35. Again I noticed an increase in resonance and sustain with no perceptible change in volume.

The last guitar I used is a Taylor 114c. This guitar had a very low action so I had to install a thin shim under the saddle to get more stringbreak on the high e. On this guitar there was no perceptible change in volume but there was an increase in sustain. I know these guitars are not high end guitars but I did notice a change in all of them for the better.

These pins do make string changes easier and I can see where they would prevent bridge plate wear. In my humble opinion these are not snake oil and are worth a try. I live in area where weather extremes are common (hot and humid in summer, very cold and dry in winter). Most of the guitars I see for repair are of the less expensive variety. A common problem is bridges that lift in a very short time . I would install these pins as a preventative measure before the bridge started to lift. This would be less expensive than a bridge repair down the road. I would also use these instead of a tailpiece on the instruments I build. So all that to say give em a shot . Would also like to hear from anyone else who has tried them.

 Cheers Tim
