I just gave back to a customer his Rick, sorry. Sometimes, timing is just irritating.
Off the top of my head... no I don't know, but have you tried to see if they are magnetic? If so, that would be a ferris metal, not aluminum. If not magnetic, then are they brass/bronze color? No? Then aluminum is possible. Are there any white-ish spots or flakes? Aluminum corrosion appears as white.

peace,
Greg
Real soft aluminum. Easily strippable.

What lovely instruments to work on, they are...
Thanks, Jeffrey....That's what I thought, but I didn't have one around to check..
You're welcome. Hopefully you won't have to deal with them often.
I second that!! Our shop has an automatic upcharge for rics!!! especially the 12 strings.
Heh heh--I've often said, I need to charge more for working on a Ric, because of the DUI I'm going to incur.

Why is working on a Rickenbacker, like dating a supermodel? They both look great, but as soon as you start getting into them, you see how effed up, they are...
But that's half the fun!!! Gettin inside and seeing how much trouble you can get yourself into!!!
Hahaha... that's a good one!
From my experience too, there's always (even for a simple setup) something that will go wrong with these beauties.

By the way, I've found "incur" in my dictionary and "effed up" in the online urban dictionary (cool tool to understand english forum language); but not "DUI", would you please help me with this word? Is that some kind of acronym?
"Driving Under the Influence"

"From my experience too, there's always (even for a simple setup) something that will go wrong with these beauties." The joke continues...
Thanks!
