getting ready to spray my guitar with a nitrocellulose finish but the bare wood requires a sealer first. is it ok to use a sealer that describes itself  [ on ebay ] as "CELLULOSE" and not "nitrocellulose"  ??  ARE THEY ACTUALLY THE SAME THING ?.  getting worried that what ever i use may react badly with the nitro clear coats. thanks

be sure to use DEWAXED shellac for a sealer or the flaking will ensue. personally, I thin my lacquer to 2-1 as a sealer, then a clear pore filler, then final coats of lacquer thinned 1-1.
am i right in thinking that if cellulose is applied straight to the wood with no shellac or other form of sealer, it will take many many coats before it forms a solid surface.. especially on end grain ??... take a look at the pictures below, this is my current project which will end up having a wine red finish..[ and possibly NO sealer.... lol ]...ps; if i went the shellac route, should i use "super blonde dewaxed " ??

in the past i have seen rose so oily that nitro would not stick suggestion i like Rusty s opinion.I would go quality, buy top dollar lac bug chew, O yea Shellac comes from the LAC BUG .chant Beetle juice 3 times .close your eyes click you heals twice and presto buying the correct stuff will help with the project come along on time. I have some cococloblo which is a false rose wood very similar and the nitro did something funky and so i had too sand it clean again to prep for shellac and then nitro . the Shellac stuck good and the nitro adhered well to the shellac everything working out in the end
