Squareneck Dobro Refinish
I am new to this forum but I am excited for all the experience and knowledge in here. So, recently I started a project to repair/refinish two guitars. One is a mid 70s squareneck that someone painted red. I think it may be a Regal, just not sure. And just because you can paint something red doesn't mean that you should....lol. It wasn't a factory painting and I thought there was probably some pretty wood underneath. After pulling off the paint, I speculate someone painted it to cover some nicks and dings. I used diluted stripper and long weekends of careful scraping and sanding. After some small repairs, I have the first few coats of Tru-oil. I have had good luck with it on other instruments. After put on the new cone, bridge and hardware I am excited to see how it goes. I attached a few photos.
I am not new to building instruments but new to refinishing them. I have a que of two others, one round neck painted as well and one frankencaster that I am not in a hurry to do.
I would love to know how others strip, prep, seal and finish. Additionally, I would love some good resources for a squareneck setup. Not a lot of people playing them so not a lot of youtube bites. Looking forward to any advice before I start the next one.

Also available is a DVD from Elderly, done by Paul Beard. He looks to be a younger man on the cover so I'm not certain when it was made, but he's definitely a "reso guru" so I'm sure it's solid gold information and probably worth the $33.
