clear coating over signature

Hi guys, a customer brought me an autographed ibanez satriani guitar wanting me to clear coat over it. Should i just use a polyurethane? anyone know about how the adhesion is to the ibanez finishes?

Hi Guys,
My name is alex, and i was the apprentice to master luthier dennis rauen of rauen guitars. I do repair, restoration and the occasional custom instrument out of my Walkers Point Shop in Milwaukee. I toured extensively with many well known bands as a stage and instrument tech. I have extensive knowledge of all stringed instruments and am excited to finally venture out on my own.
