I have my grandmothers ukulele. It is a Weymann. The wood is extemely thin without much interior support. There is a yellow band around the outer edge. The model number is not on the flat surface of the head where the tuners are, but rather on the "thickness" edge. The numbers are 41515 on the left and 116 on the right. So --Nice surname.I`m old enough to remember spending farthings.And Florins.The image of your Gran playing is a happy thought.A lot of my family came from a little village near Oxford and ended up in California (via Australia) about 1850 where they started farming.
In fact my grandfather`s cousin was the third wife of Wyatt Earp`s father.
Lots of the family are classed as Pioneers with photos.A complete mystery to me until 6 months ago.
Have you seen the site showing plucked instruments round the world ?It is a real phenomenon to have so much information.
The Bandola players are sensational.
