I hope someone can help me with this. I have Fender Jag Stang in for repair. It's mostly in for cleaning, and  some setup. My problem is the rust that developed under the bridge is now partially in this finish. I'm not exactly sure how to approach this. Please help me out.

Thanks

Mmh... seems weird to my engineer knowledge. That kind of electro-chemical reaction called reduction usually requires time, a more conductive medium than air and some energy.
Usually, I use a fine polish to remove what I can. Then I rub the bottom of the bridge with WD40 (after brushing it with a brass brush) and put it back on the guitar.
Ok guys and gals,

So this is what I did. I VERY VERY carefully scraped it using a razor blade, which left very minor scratches that I was able to buff out. Maybe it was not the best approach, but I felt that the end result was very good, and the customer was really happy. Next time I might think about doing some sort of chemical treatment, but this is what I felt comfortable doing. Please let me know what you guys think.

Thanks

That looks great!! So much for my suggestion. I think you did the right thing here!!! Holy cow it looks good!
Yes, the picture seem to show a good work.
I do appreciate all your suggestions. It's nice to have the opportunity to ask others how they would approach these sort of things. It gives me better perspective on how I should do things, and great ideas for the future. I'm sure I'll have more jobs coming up that I'll need some help with.

Thanks

Justin
