Tim,  gotta source for a billet of really figured (think over-the-top figured) sapele for a banjo neck?

I recently stumbled across some scrap ribbon-grained sapele (I think) that

was large enough for two telecaster-style necks. I am hesitant to say for sure

that it is sapele, but it sure looks like the photos that I have found. It has a very

pronounced ribbon grain, and is hard enough (I hope) to stand up to play. This

is a hollowed out body with a solid sapele neck. A local tool store keeps a supply

of millwork shop offcuts and cast offs around for pretty good prices. The one board

that I got two necks from cost $7.00

I never noticed you posed that question to me but anyway I just go rifle thru all the 2x2" x 24-30"blanks at Woodcraft when I need  neckwood...works for me everytime.
