We have a 'older' Ovation, model AA14-1, the finish has deep cracks all over the soundboard. It should be refinished, but, paint stripper will not touch it. It seems like a coat of plastic. Any ideas how to remove the entire finish, with out sanding it all off?

Many thanks!

I'd leave it alone.  From my limited experience with Ovation finishes, it has seemed to me that the heavy plastic coating forms a structural part of the guitar top - removing it may weaken the top significantly, in addition to being nearly impossible. . .
probably some polymer helicoptor blade coating they had to use up before or after it expired...........
