I am resetting the neck on my 1940 Epiphone Zenith(the bridge had been shaved very low, before I bought it). I have been assuming that I can use the 1" measurement(from a straight edge, off the fingerboard, to the top at the bridge location) given in Benedetto's book, used for determining the correct neck angle. Does this sound right, for an old Epi?

Just finished a '37 Triumph reset and I ended up at 1 1/16" at the bridge with strings on and action at 3/32nds at the twelfth fret and just got a call yesterday from the customer (the finest jazz player I know) and he's happy as can be with the results. He says the guitar never played and sounded so good. Had to make a new saddle as the original had been shaved down a bit too much. Hope this helps.
Thanks, Eric, that helps.
I dont think you can generalize like that; that will be determined by the arch of the top and the existing pitch of the neck. Really must be determined on a case-by-case basis with the appropriate math....
