lots of thinner lots of sealer and a thin coat of nitro Natural

For el-cheapo repairs, gunstock finish. I use Tru-Oil to tweak cheap ukes that had a clear finish - it cleans up the shine, rejuvenates the finish, and gets nice and hard. It smells bad and off-gasses for a month, so the finished instruments need to stay out of the case during that time. I don't plan on using it on the 1930 Martin tenor that I'm restoring, though.

1. Open pore woods get past filler.

2. Stain, if desired.

3. Shellac - wiped on.  ALWAYS shellac, NEVER anything else.  It sticks to anything and anything sticks to it.  NEVER vinyl sealer.

4. Clear gloss lacquer (Mc Fadden), tinted or dyed first for color if required, then clear.

Usual sanding between coats, block sanding after final, and buffing.

Target thickness:  .005 - .006"
