Paul,
I've tried to research some of these before and found it pretty hard to get a value for them. There's so much confusion over which "Yairi" actually built what guitar that people just give up trying to figure it out a lot of the time. The fragmentation of the name between multiple builders and the alliance of the Yairi name with Alvarez doesn't appear to have helped the resale value of any Yairi guitars. I have a steel string that I have had for around 30 years which is a very good guitar but I doubt that it has appreciated after it's original depreciation at all. It seems that the value of these guitars has less to do with their quality and sound then it does people's perceptions of the brand.

I've seen some of these old Yairi classicals come up on Ebay from time to time. I don't remember what they were going for but you might try checking there for some ideas of going values.
label say "this guitar priceless
to some
worth less to
others"
tim nice one if you are able to read and wright then you should have no problem reading the head line timothy

Three Ideas: 1. Go to Borders Books and look it up in The Vintage Guitar Price Guide. 2. Pay George Gruhn to appraise it. 3. Search GBase, Ebay, and Google.
tom who is George Gruhn ? and whats his contact info
Well known authority on all things concerning vintage guitars.

http://www.gruhn.com/
tom i look ed at his site and do you feel that if i were your brother that you would send me to him as the #1 authority on this subject of Yairi Guitars ? your saying all things concerning vintage guitars, and I see a online way to appraise it for $50 or am i better off going to the library to hunt for it in a vintage guitar book I may never find ?
can someone translate Japanese ? for me Please
Paul,
I'm surprised that you don't know who George Gruhn is already. Go to Amazon and type his name into their search engine then look at what he wrote. He's the real deal when it comes to collecting and pricing. There's a reason that he can get fifty bucks for an online appraisal.
Paul just a thought why don't you look up the member ship and see if you can;t find some one of that back ground that can speak Japanese. I belive there is one on page 7 you mite try.Good luck Bill.""""""""""
There is a website for Kathy Matsushita and I'll bet she could translate that label since you obviously realize I was joshin'!
Kathy Matsushita's Luthier Page.....
her site says she is a English teacher you think she reads Japanese also ?
