Hi everyone , this is an issue I have almost forgotten . A fender Jag with low break angle over saddles , There was a bar you could fit , like a floyd string tree bar , behind the bridge . I cant remember what it was , I think just a generic piece of guitar hardware ? I know allparts has a buzzstop too. Any thoughts?

I would go for a neck "reset" (a 0.6mm shim is most of the time enough) or the Allparts buzzstop.

Those extra bars seem popular but to my way of thinking they just give one more friction point to interfere with returning to tune.

I would do as Pierre-Antoine suggests and tilt the neck with a shim.

I did that with my bigsby equiped telecaster to get a good break angle.

This is another alternative

I should mention that it is a japanese jag that is modified with a tuneomatic bridge , I have already shimmed the neck , and changed up to 10-46 strings , It is all good except the E6 string which sounds weak and buzzy. I fitted a large washer to hold the E & A strings down closer to the trem plate, which worked . But I seem to recall a chrome bar that goes across all the strings above the trem plate , The guy doesnt use the trem ( wise on a jag). Jeff I also have a tele here with a bigsby which seems stiff , it has a mile of break because of a roller before the bridge , I am thinking of bypassing it to free up the trem action. What do you think? Pierre & Joshua thanks for your help Len

Cant say that my Bigsby tele is stiff    B5 with the string roller

It even returns to tune after usage(using the frudua tuning method)

What kind of bridge are you using?

Mine is a rocking mustang with the back edge ground down a bit so the strings only contact the saddles..

If you are using a tunomatic or even a roller bridge where the strings have to move across the saddles with the trem action, then I think you need a fairly low break angle, but bypassing the roller may be taking it too far.

Hi Jeff.

Here's a link to the part you need: http://www.northcoastmusic.com/buzzstop/

As for the question on the Tele w/Bigsby: Don't remove the roller bar on the Bigsby.  It'll really mess it up, mechanically & tonally.

Have you oiled the bearing surfaces on the Bigsby?  They're frequently maligned for poor performance when all they need is a drop or 2 of Tri-Flow. Then, go ahead and work the heck outta the Bigsby and it'll settle in nicely.

Best of luck (:

Thanks guys, the bigsby is out of alignment with the neck/pickup on the tele , and yes the break angle needs the roller.
